Strengthening our community through service

Living in Church Hill, Richmond

There are several local causes we support that do amazing work and help strengthen our community.

We love the community of Richmond and are proud to call it home. We also understand as realtors, we play a very important role in building and developing our local communities. We’re committed to supporting local businesses, volunteerism, and service, knowing we are contributing to the vibrancy of our communities. We work to ensure our clients “Love Where They Live” by understanding what they’re looking for and helping them find a home where they can thrive.

There are also numerous worthwhile local causes that are near and dear to our hearts that Ruckart Real Estate supports through sponsorship and volunteerism. This holiday season, we’re spreading the message of the amazing work they do for our communities and how you can help.

FETCH a Cure

Ruckart Real Estate Fetch A Cure Dog

FETCH a Cure is a Richmond-based non-profit designed to raise awareness, to educate and provide pet owners greater access to information about pet cancer, senior care and treatment options. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, FETCH focuses on improving the quality of life for our pets. Working with pet owners and the veterinary community, FETCH is furthering pet cancer awareness, education, and treatment.

The vision is simple: A community where no one is denied a choice for their pet’s health due to lack of options, education or funding. FETCH provides financial aid to families unable to bear the cost of the life-saving treatments for their pets that have been diagnosed with cancer through the Companions in Crisis program.

Ruckart Real Estate supports FETCH a Cure both financially and through volunteerism from its employees. The most visible component of FETCH’s work is the annual Steel Dog Project, where community works of art raise awareness of pet cancer. This is our 2021 pup, you’re sure to see him around!

Habitat for Humanity

Because we know and appreciate the value of home, we are also passionate about Habitat for Humanity. Habitat is a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call their home. Habitat for Humanity believes affordable housing plays a role that is critical in building strong and stable communities. By facilitating homeownership, families can break the cycle of poverty which goes a long way to building a better future for multiple generations.

We have participated in several builds of local homes with the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity over the past few years and will continue to do so. Whether we help a family buy one or (in a small way) help build one, we never take for granted the positive and enduring impact a home can have on a family.

Local Legends

We feel that participation in sports is a great way to improve the lives of local children. It keeps them active while teaching them valuable skills and lessons off the court/field. Our founder Brad Ruckart has been active in coaching youth basketball for years and when fellow area coach, Ryan Marable approached him about broadening their reach and impact, he was all in.

Local Legends was born five years ago, starting with summer basketball camps where kids could learn from and interact with former local college players. These camps served the dual purpose of teaching campers valuable skills (on and off the court) and exposing them to high-character players who were well-known to the campers and worked hard to have success collegiately and professionally.

Since then, more sports have been added to the offering–all with the same overarching goals of teaching kids to play the right way, be good teammates and the value of hard work. Local Legends has also added AAU basketball teams in the spring and summer. “Ruckart Real Estate’s sponsorship of these programs  is instrumental in helping families participate that wouldn’t be able to otherwise because of financial limitations,” added Ryan. The Ruckart Sponsored team, assistant-coached by Brad, won their age group championship at a national AAU tournament in Las Vegas this year!

Run Wild 5k

Keeping with the themes of caring for animals and physical activity, the fourth and final cause highlighted is the Run Wild 5k. Run Wild Races has partnered with the Metro Richmond Zoo to bring fun and animal awareness to those who participate in our events while helping to raise animal conservation funds. The third running of this bi-annual event has just occurred, with a 5k, a “Mini” one-mile race and a “Ninja” course–with all of these events taking place on the zoo grounds.

Each race supports organizations dedicated to education, awareness and protection of endangered species. This past October 100% of Run Wild’s net proceeds from the benefitted the critically endangered orangutans through these three organizations: The Orangutan Project, The Orangutan Conservancy and the Metro Richmond Zoo’s own Orangutan Conservation Program. Click on each organization to learn more about their efforts.

Organizations like FETCH-a-Cure, Local Legends and Run Wild 5k add so much to our community. They help make Richmond a great place to live and we’re proud to support them.
